Homeowners can also have many Lifestyle Enhancing features installed in their homes. These
classes offer a view into the limitless world of home automation opportunities. From
activating a set of lights as the visitor drives up the driveway, to using Keychain-Fobs
to turn on all the lights in the living room at once, this introductory class is designed
to plant ideas and tips into the minds of attendees while demonstrating a variety of
popular features.
The list of ways to "Enhance your customer's Lifestyle" with
home automation events is almost endless and grows each year. Far too many integrators
only see a narrow vision of what's just in front of them. In most installations this
"Tunnel Vision" results in a "No-Sale" or in a "Severely Limited
Sale". These sessions have a proven track record of opening the eyes of integrators
with even the worst cases of tunnel vision, while rewarding them with a number of new
profit centers.
Topics include automation features in an event driven manner. What is
an event driven feature? To understand this you must first learn to think like the buyer
and live each experience in their home, just as they do. Then learn to make each event
better and more convenient! Many industries exist today that are based solely on
convenience items. People will pay to make their lives better and more convenient! And
many times they will pay a lot more than you think is practical. So, many advantages exist
to the integrator who has a wide variety of lifestyles enhancing features to offer the
homeowner. This class centers around some of the most popular home automation features in
the home.
Let's focus on one simple event in the home (and there are thousands
of others). The event: A car entering the driveway. Just what can be sold to make that
event more convenient?
- Let's offer them an automated driveway alert system that makes a voice announcement
in the home that a guest has arrived.
- But what if it's Dad leaving for work in the early morning, should we not ignore the
event so as not to wake up the family?
- Are there certain times that this feature should not be active?
- What if the family is around back at the pool or in the yard? Will they miss the
guest ringing the front door bell?
- What if it's dark when the guest arrives? Should we not automate some driveway
lighting?
- What if Mom is vacuuming or listening to music? Will she miss the guest at the door?
- Would anyone like to see a camera image of the car entering the driveway on all TV
sets in the house?
- Would placing the camera image in picture in a picture (PIP) on the main TV set be
more convenient than just rudely chaining the channel in the middle of their favorite TV
show?
- If no-one is home why not record the camera images of the visitor on a VCR? Then
automatically play it back when the family returns home.
- Would the automated playback of the recording be done when security is disarmed?
- What about playing it back on Dad's TV when he disarms and on Mom's when she
disarms.
- Could we also make an automated voice announcement to the family after returning
home that a recording was made of a visitor they missed while away from home?
- Would the family members like to be notified by an automated phone call (while away)
that a guest is at their home?
The integrator must ask themselves, how many parts will it take to
accomplish these features? The answer is - Quite a Few! The good news is that the size of
the sale grows each time you enhance the lifestyle of the buyer with more event choices.
But, if you don't think in a event by event manner, the homeowner will never know all the
choices available. What else could you think of to sell as the result of a simple thing
like a car entering the driveway? And, this is only one event. There are thousands of
other events, many of which are in high demand. Best yet, Homeowners will often pay well
for this type of convenience! We just focused on a car in the driveway, you and your
customer will be able to think of many more!
